Old Cabinet Photographs of Sisters & Regency Paintings With Red Coral Necklaces.

Coral jewellery has been found in ancient Egyptian and prehistoric European burials,[3] and continues to be made to the present day. It was especially popular during the Victorian age

Two mystery family members. One of the girls is wearing a little coral necklace that was popular in the late 1700-1800's

Fall Leaves and Sunlight, Pictures for today From Victorian Children's Books

The days slip by... October was a very posting kinda month and November not so much. There seems to be other projects that come up and off I go into sorting buttons, reading, sewing and a little gardening.   Keeping in touch with my sisters and mom is always a treat. We talk till my phone's battery gives out. The phone is dead but I am enriched and feel connected with my family.
This afternoon is a beautiful and sunny one. The leaves on the walnut trees are turning a rich yellow green. The Japanese Maple in front is a burgundy red. Like crisp apples. Next to the evergreens it all looks so very fall. Laying in the sunlight with my kitties watching the sun go down. It is very pretty through the colorful leaves. I feel at peace.
Today there is no set theme. Just a few pictures that felt good to me. Enjoy, Louise

Catching up with 18th and 19th Century Portraits of Children

Oh my it has been many days since my last post!  I missed Christmas Monday and Thanksgiving Thursday! I have been cleaning out the garage and back patio.  All the stuff/junk has been tossed out or put away. It feels so good to go out there now. In the garage I found more old college textbooks to recycle. College was years ago and I can not imagine why I still had them. Next gardening. Now this finally did me in. Removing 30 year old ivy plants was so rewarding but hard work. And then yesterday was the most wonderful rainy day. Two cups of hot cocoa and lots of warm tea it was so cozy. Both my kitties wanted to sit on my lap all day long(at the same time)
Now it is Sunday and time to get blogging.  Today is a day for beautiful old portraits. A real variety of children's clothing from different eras.
Thank you for visiting. Stay warm and dry, Louise
Very Victorian
Love this one. How sweet she looks.
Not sure of the date but it looks French 1770ish. Wonder what they really wore to play in.

Isn't October going fast?
This post was in my drafts so I have something for you today.  I can post without spending a lot of time at my desk. The pictures and fashion plates are from early 1800's. The ones with the large puffy sleeves are circa 1830. The others are earlier and are Regency fashions. Jane Austen era clothing. The first one and the oil are  my favorite's.
I have been thinking of doing a give away. It would be so fun to put together a collection of goodies or buttons. My only concern is shipping costs over seas. Any hints about doing a give away are welcome.
I am so very happy that you have come for a visit. Welcome to all my new followers. It makes it so fun to blog and share all the pictures.

Portraits from 1700's, 18th century Women in opulant clothing Marie Antoinette time period

Hi everyone! Welcome to new and returning visitors alike.
So many of you like the 18th century clothing and portraits. It was time to have that as a theme of the day. The wealthy women of Marie Antoinette's time had such amazing clothing. Wealthy being the important part of the equation. The paintings make me want to play dress up! It would be so fun to wear an accurate ensemble of that time.  Once in awhile I have come across blogs that are focused on period costuming. I did not keep track of them so any blogs you might want to suggest are welcome.  These lovely ladies are so feminine. A perfect element to enjoy or use in a creative endeavor.
Your comments have been the best. Thank you for your continued support.
Much love to each and everyone of you, Louise
This is a favorite one today. She would look so pretty in a gilt frame.

Beautiful Victorian & Edwardian Girls Dresses ~ Lots of Lace, Ribbons & Eyelet White Work ~ Lovely Free Graphics to Download and Print

Thursday afternoon was a beautiful day because of the sunshine and I went to my little shop. It was such a treat to visit with some of the gals. My drawer was not overflowing with new button donations, but there are some pretty ones. Someone loved fabric covered buttons and saved them off their vintage clothing. Now I wonder what they were going to sew them on next?
Love these pretty white dresses!!! Samantha, the American Girl doll from the same period needs this dress. I have an antique baby dress that has beautiful white work or eyelet that would be perfect. Much of it is not in the best condition but it is still very hard to cut. Wonder who was the sweet baby it was made for.
Thank you for stopping by. Have a lovely Sunday, Louise
