Today I ventured to blogs I have not visited for several years. A walk back into all the creativity, beauty and artists that inspired me years ago.  Many of the blogs had changed and several inactive. Maybe the owner is just taking a break and will return, Then some had gone full on glossy professional with advertising. Upgraded memberships and exclusive offers.   I even found images of button cards like I post for $3. each!

Celebrating Mothers Day with Darling 19th Century Paintings by Frederick Morgan

Hi Everyone!

Tomorrow is Mothers day. 

A day to celebrate and thank our moms for all they do. 

I am very thankful that my mother has made it to 82. Best of all she is in good heath. I love her so much.

The following paintings all feature a mother with her children. 

The artist is Frederick Morgan (1847-1927).

Thank you for all your comments. It makes me very happy to know that you like what I post.

The post on April 26 was liked by so many of you.

My new little laptop computer has been working great but I am still learning about it.

Life is good at the moment.  How grateful I am. I always wonder how you all are doing. There is so much happening around the world. I hope all is well with you.

Now lets see what should I post today? Cruising through my files I came up with these pictures. I like them because they are grainy and not in sharp focus. The originals may have been but these have gone from an original film negative to photographic print to printed page in a magazine, scanned by the online library and then click and saved by me. Quite a journey for an image.
Family photos even if you did not have any from your real family. I love the big bows and the clothing. This is an unusual post but I am sure one of you crafty ones came come up with something.

 The pictures come from  Kodakery magazines circa 1919-1920s. from   Archive.org.. Wonder who came up with that tittle!

Hi everyone and welcome! 

Old postcards from the early 1900's are often so cute and whimsical. These photographic postcards are both. The young ladies in the sleighs would make the best Christmas cards and tags ever. I love the Edwardian clothing. When ever I see pictures with fur muffs I can't help but wonder does anyone use them anymore?  Not long ago a child's vintage white rabbit hat and matching muff were donated. I don't remember having one when I was a child but maybe it will trigger one of your memories.

 I am so glad you came for a visit. It is nice to be up and blogging again!

Beautiful Paintings by Emile Munier of ~Mothers ~Babies ~Little Girl and Her Doll

This is a really good day for bumble button. One of my visitors,Scott, left a comment referencing an artist.He also mentioned a preference for nude paintings. Well naturally I though oh dear this cannot be a good thing. After looking up the artist I just about cried for joy. Not only did said artist Emile Munier paint nudes but many other sweet and beautiful paintings. My files already had his works.  Looking up the artist led to other similar artist and sources. That plus new sources for Tuck's postcards and I have images for thousands of posts! Maybe Bumble Button will be a little more art history than originally planned.There will be more art to decorate your home with plus graphics for your art and craft projects.

It is most fitting to feature Emile Munier's work in this post. I love his style and subject matter. Enjoy and hope you find the pictures as pleasing as I have. Much love to you all, Louise

Hi to all of you. I am so happy you stopped by!
       I have spent 2 days scanning! The Legacy received a donation of old magazines dating from 1895 to 1931. The manager was so very nice and let me borrow them for my blog. At some point they will be on Ebay. Most are Modern Priscilla and Needlecraft with a few others. As I go through the magazines there will be a book or catalogs listed. That is all I need to start searching online libraries.  That turns up even more images! It is just amazing what is out there if you have the time to search.
       On another note I have been deleting many past posts because the images are gone. This takes time but I want to work on the new stuff!
Now it is time to post something new. My friend just became a great auntie. In celebration my images all have babies in them.   Have fun making cards, artist trading cards, collages and tags. Enjoy and make something beautiful, Louise

My Mom's 80th Birthday and the Quilt ~ Women and Daughters Sewing in Paintings~

                                                Mom's 80th birthday party was a success!  It was fun and lovely. Our neighbors from 40 years ago had great stories and memories. The 3 great grand children (under 4 years old)  made the party lively. One of the little boys loved looking at mom's charm bracelet. She couldn't have been happier.

 My part of the celebration was making a quilt!!!! 

It was my first one and I was sewing the finishing touches all night and morning of the party. It was folded and wrapped before the quest arrived.

  This was the gift from my sisters and I. They hadn't seen it so I was a little nervous about it.

Everyone loved it!

 As soon as some pictures are sent to me I will post them.

It only seems appropriate to post images of women sewing!!! So that is the theme for today.

Finally something new!

Hi everyone!

    Today I actually have some new pictures for you. One of the good things that has come out of my computer problems is I can organise new images. It has also been fun searching for new material. The updated Picasa and the new computer have more options for editing pictures. Also I will be able to access things on my old computer once I purchase a new cord. So things are looking up.

    Other exciting news is that the Legacy is setting up an Ebay account!!! Finally you will have a chance to purchase buttons and trim/lace that I mention in future postings. As soon as I get the info I will let you know. We get some amazing vintage and antique items that we don't sell in the shop. And it will soon be on Ebay for any of you.
