Hi everyone! Welcome to Bumble Buttons!

Today I have pretty printable paper that can be used in scrapbooking, journals and even as wallpaper in dollhouses. As I go through old books one of the first things to check is the end papers or lining. They can be pretty incredible! The marbled ones are wild and colorful. I tend to like simpler and less bold patterns. When there is one to my liking I copy and save them for future paper projects. Now it is time to share them with you! As a child I loved dolls and dollhouses. Definitely not a tom boy. As an adult my life was busy and there were practical things to invest in. The few toys I held on to were packed away up in my closet. I was not a doll collector. Buying an old house that needed lots of work, working and just busy living took up my time and resources. Then there were some hard and challenging years. Next thing I know my interest in miniatures and dolls comes back. Maybe it was comforting. For about 5-6 years I enjoyed building a dollhouse and bought some dolls. Somehow I came across the Pleasant Co dolls. I could not resist them. They were a new company at the time, way before it was sold and became American Girl. Samantha and Kirsten were my first dolls. Eventually Felicity arrived. Loved looking at their catalogue. Wanting all the accessories and clothing that was of course more than I wanted to spend. Next I bought patterns to sew them clothes. The years have gone by again and everything went into the top shelf of the closet.  

Looking on Wikipedia Commons for paintings to post on my blog I came across this sweet little girl. How cute this would be on Felicity!  I have pulled out my patterns and have been checking out my fabric stash. I will let you know what happens!

Hi and welcome to all of you!

Who doesn't need a cuddle and a snuggle once in awhile? How many of us as children had a lovey blanket or stuffed toy that we held as we drifted off to sleep? I had several that I remember. One was a pink elephant. When I see Teddy Bears I think of comfort and cuddles. Hopefully you do too, especially because today I have pictures of Teddy Bears. Included are two postcards and several pieces of ephemera from old scrapbooks. They would be really cute in journals, made into greeting cards, or embellish a baby photo album.

Charming Children's Book~ A Book of Children's Verse ~ Delightful Watercolor Illustrations by Millicent Etheldreda Gray

Hi Everyone! Welcome!

Very excited to share these pictures from a children's book I just discovered. The artist is a new one for me. I just love the softness of her paintings. M.E. Gray also did the illustrations for an edition of Louisa May Alcott's book 'Little Women'. As one of four girls I always enjoy seeing illustrations and paintings that feature four sisters. Now I will hunt for M.E.Gray's illustrations for that book!   Millicent Etheldreda Gray (1873-1957) was a British painter born . She attended the Cope and Nicol School and the Royal Academy Schools. Many of her illustrations for books are done in watercolor. Lots of little details. Some of the books she illustrated are  A Book of Children's Verse https://archive.org),  Princess Mary's Gift Book, The Queen's Gift Book. and Little Women. Can't wait to find copies of the other books she illustrated! 

Adorable Victorian Greeting Cards ~ Little Girl with Doll ~ Girl with Daisy~ Free Graphics Images

These adorable pictures are Victorian greeting cards. 

The first one is so sweet with what looks like a Hitty doll. Love the warm colors that remind me that it will soon be fall.  The girl with the big blue bow might be contemplating a boy and the game "he loves me,he loves me not" as she pull out the petals of the daisy. Just two of the many colorful images from a 1880's scrapbook. More to follow in the coming days. So very happy you found your way to my little blog!

 I stumbled upon a very unusual and interesting book on toys and games. It was written in the French language so it was the pictures that caught my eye. I couldn't wait to share some of the pictures with you. Here are a few of the many engravings and colored plates.Maybe Jane and her sister enjoyed similar ladylike outdoor activities. 

The French dolls are dressed in the Empire style which puts them in Jane Austen's lifetime.  The elaborately dressed poupees are just waiting to make their way into your greeting cards, collages and mixed media art.

Welcome everyone,

For some reason time is flying by. This is not what I expected during these months of staying home. Years ago I needed a clock face for a dollhouse miniature. At the time I did not have much luck, Since then I save pictures of clock faces when I stumble upon them.  Now they seem perfect for collage and altered art projects. 

All are from old out of copyright books. 

Do they still teach Roman numerals in school?
