Victorian Artists Walter & Thomas Crane ~ Greeting Cards ~ Free Digital Printies

Good morning and welcome!  A few years ago I came across the British artist Walter Crane. I was looking at antique children's books which led me to this prolific and popular artist. His father and brother were also artists. Today I have a few greeting cards for you that were done by his brother Thomas. There are two more cards in the set. I tend to get a tad obsessive about completing sets or matching things. Needless to say I will be on the look out for the other two in color.  I am posting the black and white ones as a reference. You never know what I can find on a museum or library website. So glad I found the Metropolitan Museum of Art online resources. I have been spending many happy hours going over their ephemera and artwork collections. So many interesting works of art and artists.

So glad you found or are returning to Bumble Button. Thank you for the kind comments. Sending love to all of you, Louise

Two pictures are just not enough! A few more pretty graphics.

Steam Punk and Free Clip Art of 1895 Halloween Costumes

Today is a very different post.I have come across the term Steam Punk here and there but thought it only applied to collages and jewelry with bits of old watches and clocks. Well...it is much more than that!   It was time to look into Steam Punk on wikipedia. Wow! There is nothing subtle about Steam Punk. I can't say I like most of it but some of the fashions are beautiful and all of it is so creative.
1790 Jacket
Simplicity even has a pattern out.

No wonder I see more corset stuff out there. The other day we even had a gentleman customer whose wife made custom corsets.
Going into my Halloween file for a new  post I found the following images from a 1895 book. Perfect for making witches. They also look Steam Punky to me. What ever your interests are I hope you enjoy the images below.
Thank you Dawn, from the The Feathered Nest for mentioning my giveaway and store drawing. It really helps our cause. Now it is time to work on the buttons! Much love to you all, Louise

A new group of beautiful late 1800's book plates. Black and white to decorate and create with. Free clip art

Good morning to you all! We have rain and more on the way. Not sure if I am ready for cloudy skies and cooler temperatures
I love those super soft fluffy socks and wear them all the time when it is cold. This afternoon out came a pair to keep my toe's all cozy. Do you have dollar stores near you.? Everything is $1.00 so I stocked  up my supply of cozy socks. Bored yet?
Legacy news--There is a new manager whom I have not met yet. Last week they moved everything into the temporary location. The remodeling of  the old store began on Sunday. Maybe I will like the changes and new people. I hope so. Change is not my forte' And of course Sherry made me feel comfortable and I miss hear dearly.
Enough jibber-jaber from me. You came for the pictures. While going through old books I came across these wonderful illustrations. Perfect for scrap booking frames, labels or as an element in a collage. And to finish the post with a flourish, a nest with a gathering of bird friends. I just knew you would like them.
This first one is my favorite.

Enjoy! Much love to you all, Louise

Good Morning everyone. A few pictures from the 1800's.

Good morning to all of you. Thank you for all the kind and encouraging words! Now we are really having fun! I looked at many of your beautiful blogs and am now following them. Here are the first batch of free vintage images for today. You have all inspired me.
I remember doing this in our Chevy station wagon, Another great pic from the 1883 booklet. The booklet is falling apart and scanning might finish it off!
Droopy Drawers.
They must need a change based on their facial expressions. Or more likely they both want the toy.
My great grandparents built a large house on bond street. I am guessing this might be payment for the plans. Found this in an old trunk.
Need a place to hang your wonderful lovely art? A very Victorian interior. What a contrast to the current trends in interior design.
I have always loved sleighs. Riding in one is on my wish  list. I can imagine the crisp cold air, the sound of horse bells and beautiful snow blanketed forest. How romantic!
Enjoy! Louise
