Mud-larking on the River Thames ~ Free Digital Clipart of Swans ~ Paintings by Frederick Leighton & Rupert Bunny ~Antique Postcards & Pearl Button Card.

Hi everyone and welcome!

Modern day mud-larking on the river Thames has captured my sense of discovery, curiosity, and looking for treasures from the past. I search old books for pictures and mud-larkers search the Thames river foreshore at low tide. I will try to remember how I stumbled upon mud-larker Nicola White. One thing leading to another because of how Googles searches can be fabulous. My initial search; American tv series The Office > original UK series The Office > actors in the series > Mackenzie Crook > shows he is in > The Detectorist >  metal detecting in England  > documentaries about British history and archeology > British TV series Time Team > Nicola White's Vlog comes up on my You Tube feed. She is a mud-larker! I did not know that such a hobby existed. I now look forward to Nicola's weekly vlog. It is so calming and a distraction, Her enthusiasm and joy in finding broken, discarded and muddy items is so refreshing. I love the scenery and wildlife which is how I arrived at todays theme. Swans. More times than not she shows them floating on the Thames river or foreshore. The first picture is one I have looked at for many years, almost everyday. It was a birthday card that found a permanent spot on my desk.
I hope you enjoy todays pictures and that you can use them in your journals and mixed media creations.
Much love to each of you,
                                                                  Louise

Beautiful Fine Art Paintings Featuring Birds, Canaries, Parrots, Dove,White Cockatoo~ Fun Vintage Budgie Button Card ~ Artist Joseph Caraud

Welcome to everyone!
Thank you for your kind comments! They really warm my heart and encourage me.
When I found the Budgie button card I knew it would be the perfect theme for a post. As a little girl we had parakeets (budgies). Mine was blue and my sister's was green. Now these gorgeous paintings and illustrations leave me wanting one again. I am sure my two cats would really like that as well!
Please stay safe, be kind and help each other as we go thru the days challenges.

Victorian Greeting Card of a Beautiful Yellow Rose ~ Basket of Yellow and Orange Flowers ~ Girl with Yellow Flowers ~ Goldfinch and Nest

Hi everyone!

Tonight I am just plain old happy. Not for any reason in particular. Well maybe because my house did not burn down a month ago! The Glass wildfire in California came up the creek behind my house. Up to the neighbors back door in fact. Maybe I am happy because my computer survived a direct hit of a glass of milk 2 days ago. Aren't they supposed to short out? Why did it keep working? Anyway It felt like a miracle. Then my power has stayed on through all the wind over the last weeks. I didn't have to throw out all the food in the freezer or refrigerator.  I did not lose my internet connection.

I am just so thankful, grateful and happy tonight.

The first two picture are antique postcards. Be sure to check out https://tuckdbpostcards.org/ It can take time to find a particular card but they are a wonderful source for old postcards.

Warm fall colors and matching basket
Beautiful mix of colors.
I just love how the gorgeous little girl postcard coordinates with the Victorian rose card.

Adorable Victorian Greeting Cards ~ Little Girl with Doll ~ Girl with Daisy~ Free Graphics Images

Hi everyone and welcome!
These adorable pictures are Victorian greeting cards.
The first one is so sweet with what looks like a Hitty doll. Love the warm colors that remind me that it will soon be fall.  The girl with the big blue bow might be contemplating a boy and the game "he loves me,he loves me not" as she pull out the petals of the daisy. Just two of the many colorful images from a 1880's scrapbook. More to follow in the coming days. So very happy you found your way to my little blog!
I hope you add them to your creative projects and art.

Peacocks and Feathers in the Round Free Clip Art, Graphics Early 1900's

Welcome to all.
I want to share images and graphics with all of you. There are so many that I have collected over the years.  I love that there is a sense of discovery and excitement when I find a picture in some obscure old book or publication. Then I add it to my collection in a folder. When I need a creative project I go into my folders for an image to play with.  After picking a picture it is on to a clean up, crop, isolate, lighten, darken cut, paste etc. Then away to an appropriate folder for future use. Then I feel a sense of accomplishment, very pleased and satisfied. Sharing with all of you and knowing the images might make their way into something you create makes me so happy.  Thank you for the kind comments. So nice to see familiar people finding their way back to the blog.
Much Love to everyone!
