Welcome to everyone! 

I love Indian summer. I love fall colors. Cool nights and warm days. The change of sunlight as hours of daylight decrease. Coming across this book at the Archive online library I just had to share the pictures with you all. What a pretty cover for one those adorable miniature books. Speaking of miniature books they are my current obsession. My sister sent me a link to Heather Tracy's miniature books. I would love to make one of these. Adorable! Heather even worked for the Graphics Fairy at one time. So talented.

Adorable Victorian Greeting Cards ~ Little Girl with Doll ~ Girl with Daisy~ Free Graphics Images

Hi everyone and welcome! 

These adorable pictures are Victorian greeting cards. 

The first one is so sweet with what looks like a Hitty doll. Love the warm colors that remind me that it will soon be fall.  The girl with the big blue bow might be contemplating a boy and the game "he loves me,he loves me not" as she pull out the petals of the daisy. Just two of the many colorful images from a 1880's scrapbook. More to follow in the coming days. So very happy you found your way to my little blog!

Beautiful Paintings by Emile Munier of ~Mothers ~Babies ~Little Girl and Her Doll

This is a really good day for bumble button. One of my visitors,Scott, left a comment referencing an artist.He also mentioned a preference for nude paintings. Well naturally I though oh dear this cannot be a good thing. After looking up the artist I just about cried for joy. Not only did said artist Emile Munier paint nudes but many other sweet and beautiful paintings. My files already had his works.  Looking up the artist led to other similar artist and sources. That plus new sources for Tuck's postcards and I have images for thousands of posts! Maybe Bumble Button will be a little more art history than originally planned.There will be more art to decorate your home with plus graphics for your art and craft projects.

It is most fitting to feature Emile Munier's work in this post. I love his style and subject matter. Enjoy and hope you find the pictures as pleasing as I have. Much love to you all, Louise

Romantic 1880's Paintings by James Tissot

Hi everyone, welcome to you all. Today's post features the art work of James Tissot. He is one of my favorite artists.One reason he is a favorite is the beautiful dresses in his paintings.Also the late Victorian time period. Researching different artists has returned me to a love of art history. I took the class twice in college many years ago. Examples of an artists works were harder to find then. A lot would be in black and white. The Internet is just amazing for finding things! Seeing most or at least many examples reveals  much more about the artist and his/her development. Reading biographies enable me to see what may have influenced the subject matter and manner an artist selects. This isn't an art history blog but from time to time I will focus on an artist. All the pictures today are from The Athenaeum. What an excellent resource to have stumbled upon! You will recognize several I am sure as the have been published on greeting cards or as reproductions. "The Young Lady's Equestrian Manual" 1838 Victorian Era Book Illustrations

Hi everyone! I have the best little book to share with you.

 It was published in 1838. Any horse loving young ladies out there?  

Originally I  turned all the images to black and white. I changed my mind because it is a really old book and it should look old. This front piece and the text were exceptions

Fall Leaves and Sunlight, Pictures for today From Victorian Children's Books

The days slip by... October was a very posting kinda month and November not so much. There seems to be other projects that come up and off I go into sorting buttons, reading, sewing and a little gardening.   Keeping in touch with my sisters and mom is always a treat. We talk till my phone's battery gives out. The phone is dead but I am enriched and feel connected with my family.

     This afternoon is a beautiful and sunny one. The leaves on the walnut trees are turning a rich yellow green. The Japanese Maple in front is a burgundy red. Like crisp apples. Next to the evergreens it all looks so very fall. Laying in the sunlight with my kitties watching the sun go down. It is very pretty through the colorful leaves. I feel at peace.

Today there is no set theme. Just a few pictures that felt good to me. Enjoy, Louise
