Free Ephemera of Easter Chicks from Antique Postcards

Hi Everyone!

Thursday at the Legacy was as fun as ever. There was a nice batch of buttons waiting to be sorted. Marie took home lots of them to be sewn on the button cards.  We now have more cards done then will fit in our button section. It is time to find a better location and display in the store.

Last Wednesday I learned about decorating sugar eggs! Mine turned out quite colorful and very much a first timer's egg. Hope I can take the class next year.

Today I have images of sweet little chicks for you. They are all antique Tuck Easter postcards circa 1900. I imagine them in your scrap books amongst the photographs of your family and friends celebrating Easter.

Free Easter Images of Happy Children with Adorable Bunnies and Little Chicks~ New at the Legacy.

Hi Everyone,

Easter is just around the corner! Spring time has arrived. Thanks to some much needed rain the flowers are blooming in Sonoma County, Last week I saw some baby lambs playing in spring green fields. The Legacy has baskets and Easter items on display. We have had  the best fabric donations lately. High end luxury bedding fabrics were donated from  Bella Notte  We still have a little of it left and I am looking forward to their next generous donation. Needless to say I went home with an arm load! 

Marie and I have been working like crazy trying to keep up with the buttons. We have carded a huge batch of Rhinestone buttons which are in the store now. There is so much to do!

One of the reasons I have been trying to get caught up on the buttons is my life is getting so busy. I am so happy to let you know that in the future I will be posting items from the store for all of you to buy. If you see something you want to buy I will reserve it for you. Your payment will go directly to the store. They will then ship it out to you. I have created another blog(under construction) For the Legacy  that will only feature items from the store. At the bottom of the page you will find the story about how the Legacy was started.

Daisy - The Birth Flower For The Month of April- Free Daisy Images and Art

Hi everyone and welcome!

It is the start of a new month. The first image I have for you is a calendar page done by the artist Eugene Grasset. 

 I have wanted to do a post featuring daises for awhile. There are tons of pictures, graphics and paintings featuring daises. When I found out that the daisy was the birth flower for April it was the perfect time to share those images.

The daisy is a symbol or motif  used by P.E.O., an organisation that my mom belonged to. As a little girl I wondered what the initials stood for and what the ladies were up to. I just had to find out more! I snooped and one day found a box in mom's closet that contained P.E.O. things! Before I could really see much of the contents my mom walked in! Today all one has to do is go to their website to learn about P.E.O.

Another connection to daises is through the Girl Scouts. I loved being a scout and in collage I was a Browne troop leader. The founder of the Girl Scouts, Juliet Gordon Low was nicknamed "Daisy" by her family. The troop for the youngest girl scouts is the Daises. This is the beautiful portrait done Edward Hughes of Juliet Gordon Lowe in 1887. 

Wikipedia had these fun facts; The flower name comes from the English word dægeseage, meaning "day's eye."^[1] The name Daisy is therefore ultimately derived from this source -- a synonym for the Sun. Daisy is also a nickname for Margaret, used because Marguerite, the Frenchversion of that name, is also a French name for the oxeye daisy

This is a favorite of mine.

This could be used for a wedding invitation or menu.

A turn of the century greeting card.

Thought this would make a nice place card for your next luncheon or wedding.

Daffodils and Vintage Calendar to Welcome March

Hi everyone, 

Today I have images to celebrate the start of  March. This is a very special month for me. My Mother, Grandmother and dearest friend were born in March. Sunny daffodils grow on hillsides and in gardens. What a wonderful selection for a birth flower. Valentines day has arrived at The Legacy. 

So picking a theme for today was easy. I am planning to post many more so that you will have plenty to play with.

This group reminds me of Mary Engelbriet's art work. 

I just love them! 

Our heart buttons look darling on these and they always sell fast.

The beautiful paintings by Frank W. Benson and  Hamilton  Hamilton were my inspiration for today's theme.   Pictures of woman dressed in many different shades and hues of purple.

   How exciting to start a new year!. It seems like yesterday that the new century began. I was amazed to have made it to 2000 and now 14 more years have passed.
