Joy and Delight in a beautiful day! Modern Priscilla Magazine covers from the 1920's

Hi everyone. The following pictures came from the old magazines I mentioned earlier.
The flowers and happy kids make me happy and wanting a field of flowers to play in!

Thursday is button day at the Legacy. My drawer must be full as I was not able to go in last week.
Everyone is so nice and I always have a good day. It won't be the same with Marie vacationing in Sweden but she must be having a good time! Looking forward to hearing about it when she returns.
Now it is off to start my next post. Much love to you all, Louise

P.S. I want to thank you for letting me know what you like about my blog posts. "There really are people out there!"
Though I do not reply to each of them, all are read and saved.

Beautiful Babies, Jesse Wilcox Smith and 1800's paintings,Tinted photograph of Darling baby in a bassinet

Hi to all of you. I am so happy you stopped by!
I have spent 2 days scanning! The Legacy received a donation of old magazines dating from 1895 to 1931. The manager was so very nice and let me borrow them for my blog. At some point they will be on Ebay. Most are Modern Priscilla and Needlecraft with a few others. As I go through the magazines there will be a book or catalogs listed. That is all I need to start searching online libraries.  That turns up even more images! It is just amazing what is out there if you have the time to search.
On another note I have been deleting many past posts because the images are gone. This takes time but I want to work on the new stuff!
Now it is time to post something new. My friend just became a great auntie. In celebration my images all have babies in them.   Have fun making cards, artist trading cards, collages and tags. Enjoy and make something beautiful, Louise

Karen, here is your request. It is very cute.

"The Young Lady's Equestrian Manual" 1838 Victorian Era Book Illustrations

Hi everyone! I have the best little book to share with you.
It was published in 1838. Any horse loving young ladies out there?

Originally I  turned all the images to black and white. I changed my mind because it is a really old book and it should look old. This front piece and the text were exceptions
.

Here is the chapter for what a young lady should wear.

Then it is time to put your horse to bed!
Thank you for all your comments. So encouraging. Well nightie night and sleep tight as my Mom always said, Louise

As always the images are free for your personal use and enjoyment.

Book Plates by Jessie Wilcox Smith, A Beloved Children's Book Artist

Hi everyone!
I think I bought to many flowers! Is that even possible? It is so hard to resist all the plants that are blooming.  Kings Nursery in Santa Rosa is one big mass of blooming roses. I always find something there. A trip to Imwallies resulted in even more flowers to plant.
I am so impatient and want the little starts to be all grow up over night.
Today I have some enchanting children's book illustrations by Jessie Wilcox Smith.  They are from the book "At the back of the north wind".  She is one of my favorites.
Enjoy and much love to you all, Louise
